Project to train researchers about the role of universities on innovation and economic growth on their regions.
Political instruments for high-innovation projects in European regions
The goal of project RUNIN is to develop international research about regional innovation and, more specifically, the role of universities on innovation and territorial development.
The project includes a training program for innovative researchers. The candidates will have training on solid research as well as abilities to progress both in the private and public sectors. A total of 14 PhD candidates will take part in the project, who will join the doctoral programs of the participating universities, and the public and private organisations related to regional development. The PhD candidates will have a supervisor assigned from a university and a mentor from one of the participating organisms. In total, 21 supervisors and 11 mentors will take part in the project.
Participants
The project is led by the Stavanger University (Norway) and has the participation of the Autonomous University of Barcelona; the Aalborg University (Denmark); the Lincoln University (United Kingdom); the Twente University (the Netherlands); the Linköping University (Sweden); and the Aveiro University (Portugal).

End date: August 31st, 2020
Funding
The project has been funded with 3.7 million euros by the Innovative Training Networks (ITN) of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie program, within the Horizon 2020 program.
