
IBISBA
This project has the goal of creating a coordinated network of research infrastructures that support industrial biotechnology.
The only European research infrastructures focused on industrial biotechnology and biofabrication.
IBISBA integrates infrastructures and laboratories from leading biotech institutions from France, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Spain, Italy, Greece, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. All of them put within reach the installations to promote research and innovation in developing bioprocesses, offering technologies and state-of-the-art equipment that cover a great array of operations and experimental disciplines.
The project looks for the development of innovative projects that promote efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability of the bioproductive processes while, at the same time, promoting a transition towards bioeconomy.
Participants
The project brings together 16 universities and European research centres: the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique, the Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Toulouse, Universite de Nantes, the Commissariat A L Energie Atomique et Aux Energies Alternatives and the Inra Transfert S.A (from France), Vlaamse Instelling Voor Technologisch Onderzoek N.V. (from Belgium), Fraunhofer Gesellschaft Zur Foerderung der Angewandten Forschung E.V, Knime.Com Gmbh and the Lifeglimmer Gmbh (from Germany), Teknologian Tutkimuskeskus Vtt Oy (from Finland), the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (from Spain), the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (from Italy), the National Technical University of Athens - Ntua (from Greece), the University of Manchester (the United Kingdom), Wageningen University (from the Netherlands).
The role of the UAB Research Park
The UAB Research Park has the task of dinamyzing the knowledge transfer among research personnel and the industry.

The project has a budget of 5M€ and has been funded by the Horizon 2020 from the European Comission.
