UAB hosts the 27th Interlaboratory Exercise on Organic Elemental Analysis and Isotopic Analysis
UAB has taken part continuously since 1997 in this meeting of laboratories from different analysis services at universities, public centres, and private companies. The goal of said meeting is to measure externally the quality of the organic elemental analysis and isotopic analysis.
During this 27th edition, UAB has had the chance of organising the event and celebrating it in the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the UAB. Not only that, but it has had the participation of two laboratories from the university: the Laboratory for the Analysis of Stable Isotopes (LAIE) at ICTA and the Chemical Analysis Services (SAQ), from the Scientifical and Technical Services.
Before the meeting, participant laboratories were asked to analyse the same samples, from which they obtained percentage results from both Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen and Sulphur (CHNS) and isotopic analysis. In the sessions from the last couple of days, they have agreed the values and fixed the intervals of acceptance for each result. Thus, the Exercise becomes a space to share doubts and experiences, as well as look for small and great challenges.
Besides the UAB, the last Exercise has had Matcontrol from SAQ and LAIE as organizers. It has also been sponsored by LECO, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Carburos Metálicos.
