Two new UAB research groups receive TECNIO accreditation

This seal, awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya through ACCIÓ, identifies groups and centres that excel in the transfer of technology and knowledge. The new UAB groups that have been accredited are the Bioprocess Engineering and Applied Biocatalysis Group (ENG4BIO) and the Veterinary Molecular Genetics Service.

The UAB research groups ENG4BIO and SVGM have obtained the TECNIO accreditation for the period 2025-2028, joining the other four UAB groups that have already been accredited with this label. This label, awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya through ACCIÓ, identifies them as research groups with different technological capabilities and experience in carrying out R&D projects with companies.

The two newly accredited groups stand out for developing highly innovative technologies that help companies create new products, processes or services. On the one hand, the Bioprocess Engineering and Applied Biocatalysis Group (ENG4BIO), led by researcher Pau Ferrer from the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering, develops sustainable biotechnological processes that are intensified and optimised to obtain products of interest to the chemical, pharmaceutical and quality sectors.

On the other hand, the Veterinary Molecular Genetics Service, led by Olga Francino from the Department of Animal and Food Sciences, is a laboratory that provides knowledge and the most advanced technology in animal genomics to develop new tools for the analysis and diagnosis of genes of interest in the bio-health and animal production sectors.

In addition to these two groups, the UAB also has four centres that have been awarded the label in previous calls. These are the Centre for Studies and Research in Food Technology, the Separation Techniques in Chemistry Group, the Nutrition and Animal Welfare Service and the Viral Vector Production Unit.
