The Open Innovation Challenge at Alimentaria connects businesses with technology providers

As part of Alimentaria 2024, which will be held from 18 to 21 March at the Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via exhibition centre, ACCIÓ is organising meetings between companies looking to solve their technological challenges and technology providers and start-ups.

Alimentaria's Open Innovation Challenge is aimed at research groups and start-ups that want to work with companies on open innovation, exploring new business models and offering innovative solutions to companies' needs.

Eight companies in the food sector have launched technology challenges to find startups and technology and knowledge providers:

  • Casa Ametller is looking for technology to improve quality and control pests, as well as AI tools to personalise the shopping experience.
  • Carinsa wants to collaborate in the research and development of edible packaging for its food products, such as soups, sauces, etc., to eliminate the use of plastic.
  • Europastry is looking for innovative technologies to extend the shelf life of bread and bakery products, as well as sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging materials.
  • Laboratorios Ordesa is interested in finding innovative precision nutrition solutions for cancer patients.
  • Pastas Gallo wants to reduce water consumption in its factory and improve water management.
  • Frit Ravich is looking for new packaging formats for healthy foods and snacks.
  • Miguel Torres is looking for water management and conservation solutions.
  • Puratos is interested in a food solution that allows cereals to adhere to bakery products.

Those interested in offering a solution should access this platform, submit a proposal and request meetings with participating companies.
