A new edition of Innovation Day: Talent Solutions with challenges from local companies and organisations begins

Innovation Day: Talent Solutions is an initiative driven by the Molins de Rei Town Council and UAB that aims to put technology at the service of the university community to address the needs and challenges of businesses. The programme aims to bring together the various actors of the university community to collaborate in addressing the needs and challenges of businesses. It will run from September to December and is 100% subsidised.

In this new edition, companies and organisations from the region will propose challenges related to areas such as Industry 4.0, sustainability, digitalisation, health, the circular economy and data management. Participating are Ecom, ECOZERO Projectes SL, Rohu Innovations, Viver Cleantech, True Regenerative, NeumaCare, 01 Informatica, Aigües de Barcelona and the Ajuntament de Molins de Rei, which will propose challenges so that the participating teams can work on innovative solutions..

The opening session served to share these challenges with research staff and experts from UAB and its research ecosystem, with the aim of enriching them from a technological, scientific and interdisciplinary perspective. Assistants include Ernest Valveny, from the Department of Computer Science; Dani Franco and Eduardo Cabrera, from the Department of Computer Architecture and coordinator of the AI degree at UAB; Ender Çetin, from the Department of Aeronautics and Logistics; Virginia Cousté, technician at the UAB Research Park Company–University Collaboration unit; Cristina Palet, from the Group of Separation Techniques in Chemistry; Gara Villalba, from the Department of Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering; Jordi Carrabina, from the Department of Microelectronics and Electronic Systems de Microelectrònica i Sistemes Electrònics; Enrique Doblas i Mariona Ferrandiz, from the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications; Enric Martí, from the Department of Computer Science.

From this first meeting onwards, the challenges will be passed on to the university community—undergraduate, master's and/or doctoral students from various disciplines (engineering, environmental sciences, psychology, communication and business administration and management, among others)—so that they can develop solution proposals. The programme will officially kick off with an idea-generation session on 8 October, during which teams will begin working on their chosen challenges, followed by further development and prototyping phases with the support of technological mentors and companies.

The programme will culminate in the Pitch Day, which will take place on 11 December 2026. During the final event, the teams will present their solutions to a jury, which will evaluate the proposals developed throughout the programme.

With this new edition, the team comprising Meritxell Cardús and Julia Palma from the UAB Research Park and Encarna Lombardia and Nuria Martorell from Molins de Rei Town Council reinforce their commitment to connecting talent, knowledge and the local area, and to driving collaborative projects that address the real needs of businesses and society.
