Nanoligent and Planet Biotech, awarded at the 'Night of Cerdanyola Empresarial'
Both companies, at the network of the UAB Research Park, were awarded at the Cerdanyola Empresarial annual celebration that took place on November 23rd. Nanoligent received an award in the Innovation category and Planet Biotech in the Best Start-up category.
The association of businesses from Cerdanyola del Valles organised on November 23rd the X Night of Cerdanyola Empresarial at the Hotel Exe Campus. During the event, they gave recognition to the most outstanding businesses over the last year; among them, two from the UAB campus.
Nanoligent, a company derived from UAB and the Hospital de Sant Pau i Santa Creu Research Institute, received an award under the Innovation category. The company, founded in 2017, develops antitumor drug-conjugated nanoparticles to treat metastasis. In 2022, it closed a seed funding round with 2.8M€ in international investors.
Planet Biotech, a spin-off born from the research by Ana I. Caño-Delgado, researcher by the CSIC at the CRAG (Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics), took the honour of being declared Best Start-up. This company, recently created, centres its activity around the development of products designed to mitigate the effects of climate change in agriculture. The pioneering technology the company is based on is inspired by the natural mechanisms of resiliency that plants use to fight against adverse conditions of temperature and lack of water.
