Innovation Day 2025: more challenges, more municipalities and more multidisciplinary talent in the second edition of the programme
The UAB Research Park, with the support of Molins de Rei Town Council, is kicking off the second edition of Innovation Day: Talent Solutions, a programme that is growing in scope and ambition. This initiative brings together multidisciplinary students from the UAB with local companies to tackle real challenges related to 4.0 technology and the circular economy.
More disciplines, more innovation
While the first edition focused on engineering and science, this year's programme takes a qualitative leap forward: students from economics, heritage, law, science, bioscience and engineering are already enrolled. This mix of profiles promises to yield creative and cross-cutting solutions, reinforcing the true value of multidisciplinarity.
Growth in challenges and territories
From eight business challenges in the first edition, we have moved on to ten challenges from nine companies in this second edition, addressing challenges as varied as industrial traceability with RFID, the application of AI for more accessible cultural visits, and predicting the behaviour of snails in the automotive industry.
In addition, a new key player has joined the regional alliance: Castellar del Vallès, which is entering the adventure with two challenges of its own. Other municipalities, such as Sant Quirze del Vallès and Sant Cugat del Vallès, have already shown interest in joining future editions.
An intensive journey to Pitch Day
The programme, which kicks off with an ideation session on 30 September 2025, offers two months of development and prototyping with technological and business mentoring. The culmination will come on 11 and 12 December with Pitch Day, where teams will present their solutions to a jury and compete for prizes totalling up to €4,300.
A collective commitment to talent and innovation
Molins de Rei, Castellar del Vallès and the UAB, with the organisation of the UAB Research Park and the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, the UPC, Citilab-Cornellà and several municipalities in the Baix Llobregat region, are leading this project, which consolidates a formula for success: connecting young talent, businesses and the region to drive innovation.
