AiQUOS, winning start-up at the 12th Cerdanyola Business Night

More than 220 representatives of the economic and institutional fabric met last night at the Hotel EXE Campus to recognise the talent, innovation and business track record present in Cerdanyola del Vallès.

For twelve years now, Cerdanyola Empresarial, with the support of Cerdanyola Town Council, CaixaBank and the Rotary Club, has been organising Cerdanyola Empresarial Night as an event to celebrate how Cerdanyola is undergoing a new phase of transformation and economic recovery.

In addition to the Rotary scholarship for young entrepreneurs, eight awards have been presented to companies that stand out in their category for their commitment and contribution to the region: Innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business Trajectory, Management, City Projection, Commerce, Catering and Start-Up.

It is precisely in this last category that we find AiQUOS, a microelectronics technology company that emerged from a spin-off of the CSIC and the UAB and has developed a microchip capable of monitoring water quality in real time, with environmental and industrial applications. AIQUOS technology is the only one that allows dozens of (bio)chemical sensors, electronics and neuromorphic intelligence to be miniaturised within a single autonomous chip.

In his speech, Jaume Maranges, president of Cerdanyola Empresarial, thanked the member companies for their support and highlighted ‘the need to continue collaborating to make Cerdanyola a more competitive, connected and innovative city’. The mayor of Cerdanyola del Vallès, Carlos Cordón, emphasised ‘the key role of companies in building a city of knowledge’.
