AEInnova raises 3 million euros

The company, founded nine years ago by researchers from UAB's Microelectronics Department, has closed a €3 million investment round to be developed in three phases during 2023. This funding will allow the company to accelerate the development and deployment of its technological solutions powered by waste heat.

The investment round was led by AEInnova's existing investors, such as the investment group CXC Renovables, together with new investors who actively participated in the financing process. The round was led by the co-investment of the European Innovation Council Fund of the European Union, a macro vehicle of the European Commission, which granted the company a convertible loan of one million euros two years ago and has now injected a further 1.2 million euros.

Since its creation nine years ago with the support of the UAB Research Park, the EIT KIC Innoenergy and the Repsol Foundation's Entrepreneurship Fund, AEInnova has raised eight million euros, both from private investors, mainly angel investors and family wealth managers, and from public investment through grants from the European Union, CDTI and ACCIÓ.

The company has developed a technology that recovers waste heat and converts it into energy. This technology is used in wireless industrial sensors powered by waste heat for predictive maintenance in the petrochemical, cement, metallurgical and other industries with large installations and high energy consumption.

To date, AEInnova has successfully completed 21 pilot projects in the European Union and Japan, where it already has an established distributor. It has also initiated projects in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Brazil.

The financial support will enable the company to accelerate the development and deployment of its sustainable solutions in key sectors around the world.
