The Innovation Day: Talent Solutions programme is an initiative driven by the Molins de Rei Town Council and UAB that aims to put technology at the service of the university community and vocational training institutes to respond, through open innovation and collaboration, to the new contexts, needs and challenges of businesses.
In recent years, the UAB Campus has equipped itself with a technological infrastructure to bring Industry 4.0 technology and sustainability closer to the university community and to prototype solutions to the various challenges facing society. By making effective use of data, the Innovation Day: Talent Solutions programme aims to encourage collaboration among the various stakeholders in the university community to leverage the data asset and uncover benefits beyond the obvious.
With the aim of uniting knowledge and fostering future development through interdisciplinary collaboration, the objective of Innovation Day: Talent Solutions is to promote innovation and talent, to create an ecosystem of inspiration and creativity, and to share knowledge and experiences throughout the programme. This initiative connects companies with young talent in order to address real and current challenges within the business community.
The activity is aimed at the entire UAB community, particularly undergraduates, postgraduates and researchers. Based on specific challenges from local companies, participants will have the opportunity to form teams, obtain ideation and/or prototyping tools, and learn techniques and resources for presenting project ideas effectively.
All participants from UAB will receive three RAC credits, and the winning team will receive €3,000.
How does the program work?
All those interested in Innovation Day: Talent Solutions must complete the initial registration form available on the website. UAB students will receive 3 RAC credits.
The deadline for participants to register for the competition is from August 1st to October 5th 2026.
The ideation session for the university community will take place on 8 October 2026 from 12 am to 5 pm at the COMTEC Centre space of the UAB Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives. The participating teams will develop their proposed solutions to the challenge they have chosen, will have the opportunity to speak with companies and be mentored by professors..
Participants will have from 1 October to 5 December 2026 to develop and prototype their projects according to the chosen challenge. Each team will be assigned a UAB technology mentor and a business mentor who will support them in developing their solution.
The Innovation Day: Talent Solutions will conclude with a final event held in person on 11 December 2026. At this event, the projects will be presented live for subsequent jury evaluation. The winning team will receive a cash prize of €3,000.

Molins de Rei Town Council aims to improve the cleanliness of public spaces through intelligent solutions, such as table-top bins with gamification features, that prevent litter from spreading and make it easier to monitor incidents.
Taking part in the Innovation Day was a real turning point in my career. The project we developed there gave rise to the idea for my Final Year Project and, moreover, opened the doors for me to join Adec Global as Sustainability and Environment Manager. It was an experience that showed me the value of innovation, teamwork and the connection between university and the professional world.
Taking part in the Innovation Day allowed me to turn a proposal into a real opportunity. Dare to take part and to champion what you believe in, because it could be the first step of a great project and of new professional opportunities.
