The UAB celebrates the 3rd Innovation Fair to strengthen links among research and businesses
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) is immersed in the 3rd Fira de la Innovació, which will be held on 21 October at the Hotel Exe Campus. It is expected to repeat the success of the previous edition, which brought together more than 300 people from the quadruple helix (university, industry, administration and society).

Once again, the event wants to showcase the commitment of the UAB and the UAB Research Park with innovation and collaboration between research and business. The Fair wants to the focal point that promotes the connection between the academic and businesses world, while giving visibility to R&D&I projects and promoting strategic alliances. In this regard, this year alone more than 80 UAB research groups and spin-offs will show their technological and innovative potential.
Who is invited? The Fair attracts a very diverse combination of profiles, while favouring the transversality of the connections. Thus, businesses, start-ups, investors, public bodies, and agents of the innovation systems of the territory will be present. Registration to the Fair is, as every year, free-of-charge and open to the general public through the platform B2Match, which makes networking easy through programming individual meetings among participants.
When discussing this year's programme, Carme Artigas' participation with her lecture on the future vision of technologies and their impact is particularly noteworthy. Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, Digital Technology Ambassador, co-chair of the AI Advisory Body, one of the 100 most influential women in the country,... her CV is full of successes, and we at the organisation couldn't be happier to have her presence and expertise.
On another hand, the matchmaking continues to be the highlight of the Fair, so this year a record amount of time will be dedicated to it: 3 hours. Thus, it is consolidated as the heart of the Fair. And with the same goal of maximising it as much as possible, the participating groups have recieved practical training in communication and sales to optimise their discurse and make the most of the meetings and gatherings with businesses and investors.
A scientific and technological catalogue at the service of major social and business challenges
The 3rd UAB Fira de la Innovació will bring together a broad representation of research groups and spin-offs from the campus with real tech transfer capacities to the productive and institutional sectors. This year's exhibitors come mainly from the fields of biotechnology and health (28 groups), materials and energy (13), social sciences and humanities (7), as well as the environment, sustainability, food and animal health. To date, more than 60 institutions have registered to begin scheduling meetings with various exhibitor groups to explore possible avenues for collaboration.
This diversity demonstrates the thematic richness of the campus and its ability to respond to real challenges faced by businesses and administrations. The participating groups offer analytical services, expert knowledge, prototypes, and technologies under development, some with active patents or in the process of being licensed.
Its activity can have an impact on strategic markets such as:
- Human and animal health
- Biomedicine and pharmaceuticals
- Green and clean-zero energy
- Materials engineering
- Agrotechnology and food
- Education, well-being and social transformation
With this ecosystem, the Fira becomes a key meeting point for companies, start-ups, public institutions and innovation agents seeking strategic collaborations, technological solutions or R&D partners.
