A shared agenda for research and entrepreneurship in the circular economy

The Specialisation and Territorial Competitivity Project (Projecte d’Especialització i Competitivitat Territorial, PECT) Circular B30 is an initiative that has pinpointed the necessary steps to take in transforming the territory economically and sustainability-wise to a zero-waste one. The Cerdanyola del Vallès City Hall, the Mollet del Vallès City Hall, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the UAB Research Park, Eurecat, and Esade have all contributed to its creation.

The project was based on the concepts of research and open innovation to deal with the territorial challenges identified as priorities in matters of sustainability. This vision promotes co-creation and collaboration amongst different social actors: citizens and users, research personnel, social entities, public authorities, the business sector, the creative sector, and entrepreneurs.

Within the project, the UAB Research Park, along with the UAB Core de Ciutats Intel·ligents, has established the base for a shared agenda amongst all the participants. Through participatory workshops, we have created a map of the territorial initiatives, both from the public and private sectors, related to the circular economy. Not only that, but we have identified the challenges to solve and created different solutions to advance to zero-waste.
