Innovation Day: solucions de talent

Innovation Day: Talent Solutions is an initiative promoted by the Molins de Rei town hall, the Castellar del Vallès town hall, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with the support of the Barcelona Provincian Council, which wants to put technology to the use of the university to give an answer to the new needs, necessities, and challenges of businesses thanks to open innovation and collaboration.

The activity is addressed to the whole UAB community, especially the student body, who, starting with specific challenges of the businesses close-by, will have the chance to create teams, obtain ideation and prototyping tools and learn techniques and resources to present with impact an idea of a project.

How does it work?

Starting from challenges of different businesses, the program wants to give the participant entrepreneurial tools, as well as ideation and prototyping techniques to develop innovative solutions. 

Ideation Session

September 30th, 2025

A session to generate ideas from businesses' challenges. Participants will work in teams from 4 to 10 people to develop the proposal of an answer for the chosen challenge.

Development and prototyping

From october to december, 2025

Two months to develop and protoype the project according to the chosen challenge. Each group will have a mentor assigned, who will accompany them during the project.

Pitch Day

December 11th or 12th, 2025

The program will close with a final event, in which projects will be introduced live for the posterior evalutation of the jury. The winning project will be revealed, who will recieve a prize.

Challenges

• SCHNEIDER: Implement a robust technical solution that allows pressed parts to be identified using RFID tags and ensures that this information is read correctly during the assembly phase, ultimately being integrated into the finished product label. With the specific objectives of incorporating RFID tags into pressed parts, automatically reading these tags during the assembly phase, and integrating the information in real time into the final product label (building a dataset to validate traceability and optimise the system). • MUSEU DEL RENAIXEMENT: How can 4.0 technologies and AI help us to offer a more personalised and accessible museum visit and collections, taking into account not only visitors' preferences but also their possible functional diversity and accessibility needs? Expand all details of the challenge >
• ELADIET: The challenge consists of proposing alternatives to optimise the quality control process for the manufactured product by integrating artificial intelligence techniques to analyse and compare images of a product with its reference file. Expand all details of the challenge >
• ELADIET: We have observed that Business Intelligence solutions that collect data are currently booming, not only for reporting purposes, but also for defining alerts. The challenge, therefore, is to take one of our PLCs, the one that offers the most facilities, and extract the data so that we can link it to our machines. Expand all details of the challenge >
• ADEC GLOBAL: Investigate industrial applications for the remediation of contaminated soils, identifying technologies, materials and successful cases implemented on a large scale. The analysis will include an assessment of the use of steel slag as a possible solution within the framework of a circular economy approach. Expand all details of the challenge >
• MARTIDERM: Develop a tool that simulates the effect of a cosmetic product on the consumer's skin based on a current photograph and applying the statistical results obtained in the product efficacy study. Expand all details of the challenge >
• GEOAMBIENT: Quantitative or semi-quantitative analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons in water using rapid and portable methods. Search for and determination of possible analysis methodologies and equipment to obtain a preliminary diagnosis of the concentration of hydrocarbons in water in situ. • MENSHEN: Deploy an AI, without an Internet connection to ensure data privacy and confidentiality, which is capable of, based on data accumulated in a commercially available, currently operational and functional maintenance management system (CMMS), proposing possible causes of problems that operators may experience with production machines using natural language and written language; written language, it is possible to see how the problem can be solved. This minimises the intervention of maintenance personnel, because small errors can be resolved autonomously and immediately, and it can also help maintenance personnel to locate and resolve the problem more quickly thanks to the suggestions provided by the AI. • TEB: Optimisation of the error detection process in a timely manner and streamlining the work of monitors. Considering the importance of maintaining jobs. Expand all details of the challenge >
• CELO: Development of a simulation platform for metal structures used in the automotive industry (e.g. electric vehicle batteries). Creation of a database and training of a machine learning model capable of predicting the behaviour and resistance of threaded screws during assembly.
