Why do we investigate things that, at first glance, seem to have no use? What is the difference between basic, applied or so-called “absurd” science? And, above all, why is it so important to explain it well?
In this talk, we will discover how all scientific knowledge, from the most fundamental discoveries to the most everyday applications, is part of the same path towards progress. We will also reflect on the essential role of scientific communication in bringing research closer to society, inspiring vocations and helping us understand why science affects us all.
