UAB Research Park and ALBA Synchrotron
The Cerdanyola del Vallès City Hall, the UAB Research Park, and the ALBA Synchrotron, with the support of Diputació de Barcelona, are joining efforts to organize a science and technology hackathon with the goal of promoting innovation in strategic sectors such as water, plastics, and energy. The event will bring together researchers, students, and professionals to solve real challenges planned by the businesses, using advanced synchrotron light techniques in an excellent research environment.
What's it about?
A hackathon is a collaborative innovation contest, where participants develop creative and viable solutions to challenges defined by businesses in the sectors involved. The format allows the combination of emerging talent, scientific knowledge, and high-level technological application.
The added value of this hackathon is that the winning solutions can be implemented free of charge at the ALBA Synchrotron facilities, provided they pass the corresponding technical feasibility studies.
To whom is it targeted?
- For companies, it is a perfect opportunity to obtain innovative solutions to R&D&I challenges, access young talent, and take advantage of the possibilities of synchrotron light to analyze materials and industrial processes.
- For students and young researchers, is an occasion to demonstrate the potential of their ideas, collaborate with leading companies, and receive specialised training in synchrotron lights.
This hackathon represents a bridge between scientific knowledge and the needs of industry, and reinforces the commitment of the UAB Research Park and ALBA Synchrotron to the transference of technology and the promotion of scientific entrepreneurship.
